  • How old do I have to be to start taking classes at WJO Driving School?
    You must be at least 15 years, 9 months, and 1 day old.
  • Do I need my permit to start Driving Education Classes?
    You do not need a learner's permit to attend classroom instruction. However, you must have your permit for driving lessons and bring it to each lesson.
  • What do I need to get a learner's permit in Massachusetts?
    Please be aware of the following: Proof of citizenship Social Security number Proof of Massachusetts residency Additionally, you’ll also need to decide between a Standard driver’s license/ID and a REAL ID driver’s license/ID. You can learn more about what you need to bring and what Real ID is here: Massachusetts Identification (ID) Requirements To save time at the RMV, fill out your permit application online before you arrive.
  • What do I need to do to complete my driving education requirements?
    30 hours of classroom instruction, 6 hours of observation, 12 hours of driving lessons, and 2 hours of parental/guardian classroom instruction.
  • What is the $20 Driver’s Education certificate fee?
    This fee covers the cost of processing and paying the RMV for your driver's education certificate. You will not receive a physical copy; it will be electronically added to your RMV driving record.
  • How do I schedule my driving lessons?
    You can schedule your driving lessons online, by phone, or during office hours.
  • Where is the pick-up and drop-off for the driving lessons?
    You can choose your pickup location when scheduling your driving lessons. We offer pickups at various convenient locations in the area
  • What are some points to note about the road test process and scheduling?
    Please note once your road test is scheduled and confirmed, please be aware of the following: Cancellation Fees and Double Booking: There is a $50.00 service charge. RMV Rights: The RMV reserves the right to cancel or change your road test date. Non-Refundable: The road test fee is non-refundable. NOTE- No Cancellations: After a student schedules a road test with us and the road test is submitted, we do not offer a refund. Additionally, we cannot cancel the student from the road test once it has been submitted.
  • What are some general restrictions for scheduling driving lessons?
    No more than 6 hours of driving education a day No more than 2 hours of driving and/or observation in a given day Please note, if you are enrolled in the intensive course, there may be conflicts with scheduling times and interests. For any questions regarding this, please give us a call.
  • What are the common fees charged by the Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV)?
    Learner’s Permit: $30 License Fee: $50 Completion Certificate: $20 Massachusetts vehicle registration fee: $60 biennial The title fee: $75 Sales tax: 6.25%
